Sogyal Rinpocheはチベット本土に生を受け、チベット仏教においては２０世紀の類まれなる宗教家であるジャミヤン･ケンツェ･チューキ･ロドを師に修行しました。
1971年にはイギリスに留学し、ケンブリッジ大学にて宗教比較論を学んでいます。又、チベット仏教のあらゆる派の大家の通訳やアシスタントを努め、彼 らと共に多くを学んできました。
素晴らしい『語り』の才狽Sogyal Rinpocheは、チベット仏教の特質、精神、そして本質を、まさに現代人の心に深く響く真実の言葉で、適切でわ かりやすい言葉で語ります。彼は現代における最も名高い師の一人でしょう。
リンポチェはまた、世界中で高く評価され、ベストセラーになった「チベットの生と死の書」の著者です。宗教本の名作として既に160万部が28ケ国語、55ケ国で出版されました。多くの大学が教材にしており、たくさんの医学機関や宗教機関がこの著書を取り入れ、多くの看護士や 医師、健康管理関連の専門家に重宝されています。

Born in Tibet, Sogyal Rinpoche was raised by one of the most outstanding spiritual masters of the twentieth century, Jamyang Khyentse Cho¨kyi Lodro¨. In 1971 he went to England where he studied Comparative Religions at Cambridge Universty. He went on to study with many other masters, of all schools of Tibetan Buddhism, serving as their aide and translator.
With his remarkable gift for presenting the heart essence, spirit, and flavour of Tibetan Buddhism in a way that is both authentic and profoundly relevant to the modern mind, Sogyal Rinpoche is one of the most renowned teachers of our time. He is also theauthor of the highly-acclaimed and ground breaking book, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. Over 1.6 million copies of this spiritual classic have been printed, in 28 languages and 55 countries. It has been adopted by colleges, groups and institutions, both medical and religious, and is used extensively by nurses, doctors and health care professionals.
Rinpoche is the founder and spiritual director of Rigpa, an international network of Buddhist centres and groups in Europe, America, Australia, and Asia. He has been teaching for over 30 years."
