オルガン・キーボード奏者。作曲家。アーティスト。イギリスでキーボード奏者としてラブ・アフェアー、モット・ザ・フープル、クイーンにて活動後、 1985年から日本在住。活動の幅は広く、現在も世界の第一線で活躍中。ソロ活動ではアンビエント、ミニマル、即興演奏を行う。日本では喜納昌吉、細野晴臣、ブーム、おおたか静流、中村明一、八木美知依らと共演し、オノ・ヨーコ、ブームのアルバムをプロデュース。他のプロデュース・アルバムに１分間の曲を多数収録した「ミニチュアーズ」「ミニチュアーズ２」モット・ザ・フープルのトリビュート・アルバム「モス・ポエト・ホテル」など話題作も多数。近年には、ハンス・ヨアヒム・レデリウスとのコラボレーション・アルバムなど。また実験映像、映画、TV、CMなどの音楽も制作。

長年に渡りノルウェーで最も即興音楽家を輩出している都市スタヴァンゲルで地元ジャズミュージシャンから交響楽団のメンバーまで幅広いフィールドで活躍中の22人のプロ演奏家が、現代音楽とジャズにおける個性と集団演奏の相互作用の探求を目的にキッチンオーケストラとして集まりました。キッチンオーケストラはリーダー不在の回転体という形態をとり、外部からコンポーザーやバンドリーダーを招く事によって予期せぬ無制限の領域まで演奏の翼を広げます。数々の音楽的冒険を行い、現在までAlexander von Schlippenbach、Øyvind Torvund、Inbal Pinto、Evan Parker、Keith Tippet、Trevor Wishart、Reidar Larsen、Svein Tang Wa、Steve Beresford、David Kane、Lotte Ankerらとコラボレーションを果たしました。Alexander von Schlippenbachとレコーディングした最近アルバムを2012年夏以降にリリース予定です。

Keyboard player / Composer / Producer / Light Painter. Born in London, England, on January 1st, 1950. '68~'76: Played keyboards in The Love Affair, Third Ear Band, Mott the Hoople, and his own progressive rock band Morgan. '78~'80: Art-punk album "Hybrid Kids," the cult classic "Miniatures" album (51 one-minute tracks by cutting-edge musicians from Robert Fripp to Hector Zazou) and his first ambient album "Slow Music" with Lol Coxhill. '82: Played live with Queen. '85: Moved to Japan, developed his improvised music, and created abstract photographs called Light Paintings (as on the Morgan's Organ album covers). Played with Japanese artists Yoko Ono, The Boom, and Haruomi Hosono. Recent works: an album with Hans-Joachim Roedelius (of Cluster), performances with The Minus 5 and Robyn Hitchcock, music for film and TV, two exhibitions of light paintings in Tokyo.
Entrance information: For those who reserve in advance (by 6pm on the day before the concert), entry to Morgan's Organ is FREE.
For those without reservations, there a modest 1000 yen entrance fee.
Morgan's Organ usually happens on the 3rd Thursday of every month.
It features selections of Morgan's photographs plus astonishing films from his avant-garde video library.

##Kitchen Orchestra
For many years Stavanger, Norway has produced some of Norway’s most profiled improvisational musicians. 22 of these professional players, ranging from local jazz musicians to the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, have come together under the name Kitchen Orchestra as a music collective exploring the improvisational relationship between the individual and the ensemble in the context of modern and jazz music. Kitchen is a rotating body of musicians with no one leader. A collective force of creativity combined with an invited external composer/bandleader directing them into unrestrained and unpredicted musical territories. This results in wide ranging musical ventures and collaborations that have include Alexander von Schlippenbach, Øyvind Torvund, Inbal Pinto, Evan Parker, Keith Tippet, Trevor Wishart, Reidar Larsen, Svein Tang Wa, Steve Beresford, David Kane, and Lotte Anker. Kitchen has most recently recorded an album with Alexander von Schlippenbach to be released later this year.
