Artist Information: ROBERT PIOTROWICZ (Poland)  sound artist, composer, improviser and co-founder of the Musica Genera Festival and the Musica Genera label – has authored radio dramas, sound installations, and music for theatre productions, and collaborates regularly with other artists on audio-visual performances. His music has as much in common with contemporary electro-acoustic compositions as it does with sound art. His concerts feature saturated, detailed musical forms created with analogue synthesizers and computers. He has developed his trademark sound of intense dynamics seized in dramatic and balanced structures. O’Reilly’s works produce dense sonic textures that generate live visuals through the transformation of audio signals into moving images. He regularly performs solo and in audio and visual projects such as “Flicker Tone Pulse” with Curtis Roads, “Electromagnetic Objects” with video pioneer Woody Vasulka, and with the analog audio-visual modular synthesizer duo Black Zenith (with Darren Moore). His unit PLUGDEAD creates songs through the triggering of his analog synth by DeAthAnovA’s drums, but he can also be found performing solo or in various other units and sessions. [NAOKI NOMOTO SoundCloud](https://soundcloud.com/naokinomoto) MASAYASU TZBOGUCHI (Japan)  jazz pianist, synthesist, composer – is one of the foremost keyboardists in Japan today, creating groove-based electro-jazz which appeals to jazz fans and club-goers alike. Based in Tokyo, he is well-known as the leader of “Tokyo Zawinul Bach”, a unique electro-jazz unit. When performing with his large modular system he specialises in building up his improvised techno-tinged compositions from scratch before the audience’s eyes. PNEUMOTHORAX (Scott Jaeger of The Harvestman) (US)  PNEUMOTHORAX (Scott Jaeger of THE HARVESTMAN) (US) is flying over from the US especially for this festival where he will be demoing some of his unique and cutting-edge modules. The Harvestman is at the forefront of bringing diverse digital technologies of sound creation and manipulation into the analogue realm. He will be performing with his modular system as PNEUMOTHORAX, providing a fascinating glimpse into the outer reaches of modular synth potentialities. [The Harvestman](http://www.theharvestman.org/) HATAKEN (Japan)  HATAKEN has been making electronic music since the late 80s, and has collaborated with renowned producers from all over the globe. Improvisation is at the centre of his musical art, using electric audio frequency in real time with analogue hardware and electric parts. Hataken has a mastery of his machines, yet this is not the highlight of his creations: in live performance, he channels his musicality directly to the listener, simulating many experiences by music to realise what is important in life. [HATAKEN soundcloud](https://soundcloud.com/hataken) HIROKI CHIBA (Japan)  HIROKI CHIBA has a background in both classical and electronic music, having played violin since childhood and having been exploring modular synths and electronics for some years. Born in Iwate Prefecture in 1981, he began his career as a jazz bassist in 2004 and has since been active in a variety of music scenes spanning Jazz, Pop, Rock, Improv, Electronica, HipHop etc. His bass skills have developed under the masterful oversight of jazz bassist Masaaki Kikuchi (also with classical and electronics background) into an active next-generation musician without boundaries, and an extensive and impressive array of musician collaborators already fills his biography. DAVE SKIPPER (UK/Japan)  DAVE SKIPPER (UK/Japan) is involved in Tokyo’s noise, experimental and improv scenes, and thrives on trying to generate a large and powerful palette of sonic “solar radiated brain-melts” out of a fairly minimal modular synth setup. He will be joined by ETHAN DROWN HURLBURT (US/Japan), performing live analogue & digital animation of stills & video clips with a modular synthesizer in ways that respond to the music.
