伝説のパンクバンド、スージー・アンド・ザ・バンシーズ。そして、JUNO REACTORのツアーで来日するドラマー、BUDGIE（バジー）を迎えてのブレンドラムス。ダイナミックなパフォーマンスと生音の心地良いグルーヴを体感せよ！”Blendrums”(ブレンドラムス)とは、blend（混ざる）とdrums（太鼓）を組み合わせた造語でレナード衛藤の数あるプロジェクトのひとつ。

ニューヨーク生まれ。レナードは演奏や作曲だけでなく音楽監督として太鼓グループ・鼓童で活動後、1992年に独立。これまでに50カ国を超える国々で演奏活動を行ない、ボブ・ディラン、ボンジョヴィ、ザキール・フセインなど錚々たるアーティストとも共演。2004年にザ・クリーチャーズのアルバム“HAI!”の制作に参加しバジーと出会う。その後、スージー・スー名義の全米ツアーとロンドン公演に参加。2013年、レナードは文化庁文化交流使に指名され、1年間ヨーロッパを拠点に活動を展開。マルセイユ国立バレエを始め、多くのダンサーやダンスカンパニーと作品を作り発表。ヨーロッパ各地のフェスティバルにて好評を博す。また、数多くの楽曲が、”JFK”,“LION KING”, “THE THIN RED LINE”などの映画やオリンピック競技演目、CMに使用されている。

バジー（ドラムス）

ロンドン生まれ。1979年、伝説的なパンクバンド、スージー・アンド・ザ・バンシーズに加入し、1996年まで活動。1981年、もう一つのグループとしてスージー・スーと共にザ・クリーチャーズを結成。そのサウンドは、ドラムスやマリンバなどのパーカッションをベースとした民族的なグルーヴにスージーの呪術的ヴォーカルがフィーチャーされている。2009年よりJuno Reactor（ジュノ・リアクター）に参加。この他、バジーは自身のプロジェクトとしてレナードやパーカッショニストのMabi、マルチプレーヤーのノックス・チャンドラー、そして、LUNA SEA のギタリスト、SUGIZOとともにThe Butterfly Effect（ザ・バタフライ・エフェクト）がある。

10歳からタップを始める。加藤邦保氏に師事。TAP界の巨匠、Jimmy SlydeのTapに魅了され、Improvisation Tap(Jazzとの即興演奏）を始め、2000年キングレコードより「The TAP」でCDデビュー。タップダンスとフラメンコの融合をテーマにした「あぴをんと」など、幅広いジャンルの音楽タップユニットを手掛けライブ活動を続ける、日本で数少ない女性ジャズタップダンサー。

Leonard was born in New York. In 1984, Leonard joined the Japanese taiko drum group Kodo. He soon became Kodo’s principal player, composer and the music director. In 1992, Leonard left Kodo to pursue a solo career. He has performed in 50 different countries and has collaborated with artists from various disciplines such as Bob Dylan, The Chieftains, Zakir Hussain, Airto Moreira, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Nina Anianashvili. Besides the concerts, Leonard also works as a composer. His original works have been featured in film productions such as “JFK”, “The Lion King”, “The Thin Red Line” and others. In 1979, Budgie became a member of the influential band Siouxsie and the Banshees (1979–1996). In 1981, he formed a second group with Siouxsie Sioux named The Creatures. In 2003, Budgie collaborated with Japanese taiko player Leonard Eto, recording in Tokyo for The Creatures album “Hai!”. In 2004, The Creatures toured in the US and London. Budgie has played with Juno Reactor since 2009. In 2010, Budgie teamed up with Leonard Eto and Mabi, plus multi-instrumentalist Knox Chandler and guitarist Sugizo, for a program called “The Butterfly Effect”.
