坂田明
広島県呉市広長浜生まれ。広島大学水畜産学部水産学科卒業後、1969年に上京し「細胞分裂」を結成。1972年から1979年にかけて山下洋輔トリオに参加し、1979年末まで在籍。激しいサックス演奏で知られるようになる。同トリオを脱退後は、さまざまなグループの結成・解体を繰り返し、2000年から「坂田明mii（みい）」を中心に活動。現在は「坂田明Trio」、「坂田明&chikamorachi」でのレギュラーユニットの活動と同時に、内外のミュージシャンとのフリー・セッションを行なっている。

HAIR STYLISTICS
音楽、映画、文学、イラストの世界で特異な才能を発揮しつづける中原昌也の音楽ユニット。90年代より「暴力温泉芸者=Violent Onsen Geisha」名義でミュージシャンとして活動。アメリカのインディレーベルからアルバムをリリースし、海外公演も重ねるなど高く評価される。1997年からユニット名を「Hair Stylistics」に変更。並行して映画評論も手がけ、処女著作は現在も語り継がれる衝撃の書。以後も『エーガ界に捧ぐ』『シネコン』など映画に関する著書多数。1998年には初の短篇小説集『マリ&フィフィの虐殺ソングブック』を発表。2001年『あらゆる場所に花束が……』で三島由紀夫賞、2006年『名もなき孤児たちの墓』で野間文芸新人賞、2008年『中原昌也の作業日誌2004→2007』でBunkamuraドゥマゴ文学賞受賞と、小説の分野でも才能を発揮するものの、一貫して書きたくて書いているのではないという後ろ向きな態度を崩さない。イラストやコラージュなどブラック&クールな画業にもファンが多く、絵本も刊行した。(Photo by Masayuki Shioda)
八木美知依
邦楽はもちろん、前衛ジャズや現代音楽からロックやポップまで幅広く活動するハイパー箏（こと）奏者。故・沢井忠夫、沢井一恵に師事。NHK邦楽技能者育成会卒業後、ウェスリアン大学客員教授として渡米中、ジョン・ケージやジョン・ゾーンらに影響を受ける。ゾーンのプロデュースによるソロ・アルバム『Shizuku』（1999年）を皮切りに、自己の箏アンサンブルとの『ゆらる』（2001年）、17絃ソロ作『Seventeen』（2005年）、ノルウェーの尖鋭リズム隊インゲブリグト・ホーケル・フラーテン（b）とポール・ニルセン・ラヴ（ds）を迎えた『ライヴ！アット・スーパーデラックス』（2006年）をリリース。2006年に欧州フリー・ジャズ界の重鎮ペーター・ブロッツマン（s）、ポール・ニルセン・ラヴとトリオを結成し、『Head On』（2008年）と『ヴォルダ』（2010年）をリリース。同じく2010年にエリオット・シャープ（g）とのデュオ作『リフレクションズ』を発表。2014年の秋に本田珠也（ds）とのパワー・デュオ《道場》のデビュー盤『壱ノ巻』をリリースし、月刊『ミュージック・マガジン』の《2014年度ベスト・ジャズ・アルバム》１位を受賞。2015年夏には坂田明（s）、太田惠資（vln）を迎えた『道場／弐の巻』をリリース予定。更にアイヴィン・オールセット（g）とのアンビエント・アルバム、ジョー・マクフィー（s、tp）、ラッセ・マーハウグ（electronics）らとのフリー・ジャズ作品等が近々発売される予定。Moers Jazz Festival（ドイツ）、Vision Festival（米国）、Jazztopad及びKrakow Jazz Autumn（ポーランド）、Kongsberg Jazz Festival（ノルウェー）、Újbuda Jazz Festival（ハンガリー）、Music Unlimited（オーストリア）、Instal（イギリス）等に出演。世界のトップ・インプロヴァイザーと共演するかたわら、プログレッシヴ・ロック・アーティストのスティーヴン・ウィルソン（Porcupine Tree）、アコーディオン奏者のcoba、更に浜崎あゆみ、アンジェラ・アキやTakuya（元Judy & Mary）といったJ-POPアーティストのレコーディングやステージにも参加。2008年、ラヴィ・シャンカール、パコ・デ・ルシアらと並んで英国のワールドミュージック誌『Songlines』の《世界の最も優れた演奏家50人》に選ばれる。現在は《八木美知依トリオ》《道場》《八木美知依ダブル・トリオ》及びソロ公演を活動の核とし、オリジナル曲中心のレパートリーを焦点としている。

JOE TALIA
オーストラリア・メルボルン在住のドラマー／コンポーザー／プロデューサー／サウンドエンジニア。もともとコンテンポラリージャズ／インプロビゼーション界のドラマーとして評価を得ていた彼は、Andrea Keller Quartet、Oren Ambarchiとのデュオなど数多くのプロジェクトに参加しているが、近年はそれと平行して、ソロやJames Rushfordとのデュオ、またNed Collette、Francis Plagne、Yuko Konoなどアウトサイダーシンガーソングライターのドラマーとして、幅広く活動している。スタジオエンジニアとしては、NAZORANAI（Oren Ambarchi・Stephen O’Malley・灰野敬二）、灰野敬二・Jim O’Rourke・Oren Ambarchiトリオ、Richard Pinhasなどのアルバムのミックスの他、オーストラリアを中心とした様々なミュージシャンのアルバムのプロデュース・録音・ミックス・マスタリングを手がけている。

森重靖宗
チェロ奏者、即興演奏家。国内外の数多くの音楽家や舞踏家等と共演。アコースティック楽器の可能性を広げて奏でられるその様々な音響は、繊細かつ豊かで独特である。時に自作曲のチェロによる弾き語りや、ピアノを使った演奏なども行う。灰野敬二率いるバンド「不失者」ではエレキベースを演奏。音楽活動以外にも写真作品集を発表。

AKIRA SAKATA
Akira Sakata was born in Kure-city, Hiroshima in 1945. Studied marine biology at Hiroshima university. Formed a group Saibo-bunretsu (Cell fission) in Tokyo in 1969, and was also performing with various free-jazz musicians during this time. Since the late 1960s, Sakata has been a constant figure in jazz and creative music scenes as an ever evolving and adventurous, multi-instrumentalist, and member of classic groups such as Yamashita Yosuke Trio, from 1972 till 1979, and Wha-ha-ha plus many of his own, like the Sakata Akira mii. He has recorded with Chris Cosey, Peter Brotzmann in Last Exit, DJ Krush, Yoshimio, and others. In 2005 he began peforming with guitarist Jim O'Rourke, drummer Chris Corsano and acoustic bassist Darin Gray. They've since released three albums together. Friendly Pants is the first American release by Sakata in more than 20 years. It pairs the 65-year-old traveler alongside bombast Chikamorachi (Corsano/Gray) and O'Rourke as the producer.

MICHIYO YAGI
Michiyo Yagi studied koto under Tadao Sawai, Kazue Sawai and Satomi Kurauchi, and graduated from the NHK Professional Training School for Traditional Musicians. Between 1989 and 1990, during her tenure as Visiting Professor of Music at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, U.S.A., she premiered numerous modern compositions for koto and came under the influence of maverick American composers such as John Cage, Conlon Nancarrow, and John Zorn. Her solo koto CD Shizuku was produced by Zorn and released on the Tzadik label in 1999. In 2001 she recorded "Yural" with her koto ensemble Paulownia Crush for the East Works label. Under the auspices of the Japan Foundation, Yagi toured Russia with this ensemble in the fall of 2004.
Yagi is one of the few improvising koto players on the international stage. JOE TALIA
Joe Talia is an Australian drummer, composer and record producer/engineer based in Tokyo. He first established his reputation as a drummer in contemporary jazz and improvised music fields in which he is now active as a member of the ARIA award winning Andrea Keller Quartet and in numerous collaborative projects, including a long-term duo with Oren Ambarchi. In the last few years a great deal of his work as a drummer has taken place alongside outsider singer-songwriters (such as Ned Collette, Yuko Kono and Francis Plagne), in groups which synthesize his adventurous, exploratory drumming with the demands of song form. His longstanding musical partnership with Ned Collette has resulted in four records, on which Talia acts as both drummer and producer/engineer, most recently Networking in Purgatory (Bronze Rat 2013). In addition to the collaborations above he has performed, recorded and toured with Jim O'Rourke, Anthony Pateras, Richard Pinhas, John Duncan, Brous, Mary Halvorson, The Australian Art Orchestra, Thembi Soddell, Anthea Caddy, Sean Baxter, Robbie Avenaim, David Shea, Marco Fusinato, Rand and Holland, Adam Simmons, Magic Mountain Band, among others.

YASUMUNE MORISHIGE
As one of Japan's most unique voices of the cello, improvising musician Morishige Yasumune continues to collaborate with a wide array of dancers and musicians both in Japan and around the world. His improvisational approach looks to extend the cello's sonic possibilities, expanding the vocabulary of the instrument into rich unexplored territories. In addition to his improvisational work, he also composes his own vocal works, accompanying his voice with either cello or piano. More recently he has been playing electric bass in Haino Keiji's band Fushitsusha. In additional to his musical activities, Morishige is a notable photographer who published his first collection, entitled "photographs", in 2010.

DARREN MOORE
Darren Moore is a drummer and sound artist working within a broad spectrum of styles related by improvisation. He is currently based in Tokyo and performs regularly in Europe, South- East Asia and Australia. His current projects include free-improv group Game of Patience, audio-visual duo Black Zenith, Carnatic rhythm based percussion duo of Darren Moore/Suresh Vaidyanathan, free jazz unit the Tim O'Dwyer Trio, as well as bio-art project 'cellF'.

CAL LYALL
Involved in the arts scene in Japan for over fifteen years, Cal Lyall has organized large-scale performances involving both Japanese and overseas artists, while also remaining a key member of a number of musical groups which have toured both locally and internationally. His musical activities are documented on over 30 albums he has both produced (including three full-length compilations released on medama records in Japan) and contributed to as a writer or musician. As a curator, he established the monthly Test Tone concert series in 2005 at Tokyo’s SuperDeluxe. Featuring over a thousand distinct artists over its 9 year run, it reached its 100th installment in 2014. With an active performance schedule in Japan and past tours through Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, China, Korea, Australia and the US, he also heads up the Subvalent record label and oversees the Tokyo Hub of Jolt Sonic Arts (Australia).
