Tomy Wealth
Tomy Wealth is a solo project by drummer, beat-maker and composer Saeki Tsurayuki. With over 20 years of experience, Tomy Wealth has recently moved his focus towards track making, sampling his own drum patterns and adding melodic string and piano samples to create the unique fusion he plays today. His music can be described as””wabisabi,” a uniquely Japanese aesthetic in Japanese art that
emphasizes quiet simplicity. Tomy composes music as if it were a soundtrack for a movies, sharing his own perspective of the world. At live performances, he plays the drums while his supporting members play the other parts. Most of what you hear at his live performances are his original sounds, but he also incorporates the recording of other artists into his soundscape. His first album “Hotel Otherside” was released in 2009 and sold 3000 copies from his own label. His second album “Table Manners” was released in 2013. MC Lord Kimo from Asian Dub Foundation and kamomekamome, Tatsuro Mukai, a former member from Nunchaku have also been featured performers on his recordings. Tomy has played all over the world, from his successful tours in Korea, Canada to Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic. In addition, he has composed music for ANA, Audio-Technica, and Adobe Max Japan 2016 at Tokyo Big Sight. Tomy has also created music for popular bands like Crossfaith and Crystal Lake. His independently produced projects held biannually at Eggman in Shibuya continue to enjoy sell-out crowds.

Founded in 2011, Dead Sea Dropouts have made their name playing bars,clubs, charity events, weddings and small festivals in and around Tokyo. MOLICE formed in 2007, and within 6 months, they took to the stage at Summer Sonic, one of Japan’s biggest music festivals. MOLICE keep a DIY spirit and indy style to perform rock’n roll that they truly believe in.Their one-of-a-kind original sounds and music videos are gaining traction on various media around the world. Radio stations in the States, Europe and Asia love MOLICE songs and continue to broadcast them year after year. MOLICE music videos also have been broadcasted in France and other European nations. They made their USA debut through an American label GOOD CHARAMEL RECORDS which is owned by Robby Takac(Goo Goo Dolls) and played at festivals in the States and Vietnam. Robert Taira Wilson
Robert Taira Wilson is a singer-songwriter from London UK. Robert started playing the guitar at the age of 7 and has been performing his original music for the past 10 years around the world. Robert’s guitar styles are truly original. Dexterous picking techniques blend with the use of chords and open strings that occupy Lead, rhythm, bass and percussion parts simultaneously in a sound so big that it is orchestral in its impact. Robert’s new EP ‘Cold In The Heat’ features diverse instrumentation and collaborations and it represents a significant shift in the scope and ambition of his recorded music.

So Kashima
Born in Ibaraki, So Kashima studied the basics of drumming, Jazz and Latin music under Jazz drummer Takahiko Inoue. He later learned pop and rock music from studio musician Shunsuke Iji. 2009: Exclusive contract drummer to the Kennedy House in Ginza 2011: Supported solo live performances for Chiharu Tamaki from Kiroro 2015:Traveled with his band “Tecimerico” in Europe. Having played street performances and at pubs in Dublin and London, they also performed at outdoor festivals such as Vantastival15 and Sunflowerfes15. After returning to Japan, So drwe upon his inspiration from living in
Europe to the creation of their second album “Moku.”

Atsushi Harata “Light Painter”
Atsushi Harata is an analog video expressionist. He uses the OHP (Over Head Projector) to mix liquid collage, essentially creating a “Light Painting” in real time. He has shared his unique vision at music festivals, art and design festivals, galleries, and as stage art for live productions.

Ali Sabet
Ali Sabet was born in Iran, Tehran in 1976 and moved to the United States with his family in 1986. As he didn’t speak English at the age of 10, drawing was an escape from an overwhelming and complicated new world. Years of doodling turned into drawing which turned into a passionate desire to create art inspired by LOVE. He graduated from Cal State Fullerton in the field of Communications/Advertising in 1998 and quickly found himself in the world of big advertising as an Art Director. Later he started his own branding agency, called Sabet Brands and has had an amazing 20 years in creating wonderful brands for appreciative and conscious clients. As the pressures mounted with larger marketing projects, he found tranquility in expressing himself in creative art projects, limited-edition mixed media prints and original paintings. He thinks of his brushes and paint as extensions of his body that allow the energy that flows within to be expressed with passion and LOVE.  Last year, he was invited to present his work at the 2016 Tokyo International Art Fair, which was a transformative experience to his very core. This year he returns to the Tokyo International Art Fair, and will make a special appearance at This&That while he is in town.

Carmela Fleury
Self-proclaimed “magazine kleptomaniac” Carmela Fleury did not grow up with artist parents or go to art school (she got an engineering degree from Tufts University instead). She never received any sort of recognition in the art world and taking art seriously used to make her giggle. Now making visionboards is her therapy. A healthy and sustainable form of escapism from life with 2 small children in it. It is simple, easy and accessible to everyone. And IMMENSELY POWERFUL in manifesting dormant needs and scheming goodness. (A selection of Carmela’s vision boards will be on display at This&That Vol. 33.)

Sofia Enriquez
Hailing from Indio, California, Sofia Enriquez is 24 years old. She graduated from Otis College of Art & Design with a focus on Illustration and has since been painting on clothing, walls, and pretty much anything that holds paint for the past few years. She is obsessed with exploring the female visage in different forms, especially as represented in Victorian era artwork. Much of her recent work has explored recontextualizing that style of female portraiture within a framework that incorporates images and words that reflect her Southern Californian background, especially the Coachella Valley.

Unusual Club (Djs)
Our musical style is very broad, hence the “Unusual” name. We typically play a back-to-back set. It sometimes creates discordances since our taste and mood can be different, but we appreciate the “wave” that results. Although our musical styles range from rock, indie, reggae, asl the way to dub, funk, jazz, new wave and hip hop, the common ‘roots’ that we often revisit are mostly electronic/techno/house. We have been regular DJs at SNIFF SNIFF (now Roarrr) and CONTROL parties. Paul is English and Sebastien is French Canadian, both based in Tokyo for about 8 years.

This&That Cafe is a periodic event open to the public in which artists from all genres and backgrounds donate their time and talents in the spirt of sharing. It is a place where music and visual arts meld in unexpected collaborations. A forum for artists from afar to meet with local luminaries amidst the dense and eclectic pool of talent in Tokyo. A venue to gather, exchange ideas, share artistic inclinations and wax poetic in a causal community of old friends and new acquaintances.
