Johnsons Motorcar

Johnsons Motorcar played as an acoustic 3-piece for 3 years until March of this year when they hosted The Mother of all Paddys Nights as part of the St Patricks Day Festival 2010. For this show they recruited Tokyo party boy Katsuya Nakanishi on keyboards and ex Beat
Crusader Keitaimo on bass and played their first all electric Funky Disco Hardcore show. As a result of this they have been offered (and have accepted) a record deal with Japanese independent Vivid Sound and their first disc is scheduled for release on October 27th. Although Johnsons Motorcar plays exclusively Irish music, the members continually refer to their unique sound as "Funky Disco Hardcore." (Whatever that is!) Johnsons Motorcar has one of the most exciting live shows in Tokyo and always keeps the mood upbeat and rocking delighting people of all ages from infants to the elderly. Everyone who listens becomes a fan.

Medicine Bone

Taking their musical cues from North Mississippi hill-country blues artists like Fred McDowell, RL Burnside and Junior Kimbrough, Medicine Bone offer up raw servings of propulsive, riff-driven blues originals, bringing to the Tokyo scene something very unique in its simple honesty and power. Guitarist Ken Shima and drummer Samm Bennett share songwriting and singing duties equally in this funky, neo-primitive duo, dedicated to the idea that the musical past, present and future are all rolled up into one big churning ball, rolling down the hillside, landing in the river and getting carried out into the ocean of human consciousness. This is stripped-down music from a couple of American wanderers with a firm grip on the deep American roots, ready to look you in the eye and tell you some stories while you tap your feet and/or shake your butt.
