Jun’ichi OKUYAMA ![/sdlx/120922-Okuyama.jpg](/sdlx/120922-Okuyama.jpg) Born in Tokyo in 1947, Jun’ichi Okuyama is one of Japan’s seminal experimental filmmakers. He made his first film in 1964 as a high school student, and became fully involved with filmmaking after entering Tamagawa University’s Department of Literature. He has since remained constantly active, creating over 70 highly original experimental works over the last 47 years. Okuyama was recognized internationally early on, with his first screening outside of Japan (the radical 1971 ‘disposable film’ entitled No Perforations) being awarded a Silver Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival. His distinctively playful approach to the medium of film is widely admired and his most famous works are included in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art (New York), The Yokohama Museum of Art Anthology Film Archives and many top universities worldwide. He has been involved in large-scale exhibitions at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography and has held both solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad. [Nao Nishihara official site](http://nishiharanao.blogspot.jp/) Jacques DEMIERRE (Switzerland) ![/sdlx/160713-JacquesDemierre_by_RALPH_KUEHNE-a.JPG](/sdlx/160713-JacquesDemierre_by_RALPH_KUEHNE-a.JPG) Jacques Demierre is a pianist, composer and improviser. Whether acoustic or electro-acoustic, respectful of traditional music writing or embracing free improvisation, his experimentations feed into music as well as sound poetry and sound intervention in situ. They are all driven by the same constant search for consciousness of sound. Author of numerous pieces for ensemble or voice, he also explores the power of everyday noises. Extending the sound possibilities of the piano instrument, Jacques Demierre also interrogates the ways in which it can approach the sphere of language. He develops a very cross and interdisciplinary critical conception of music which gives him the opportunity to work with artists from very different backgrounds. His work is documented on Tzadik, héros-limite, Psi, Victo, jazzwerkstatt, Leo, Plainisphare, Creative Sources, INSUB., Intakt, Bocian Records, bardem, Unit Record, stv/ams and his scores are available on SME/EMS.
