ラウンヒル・マイ (Ragnhild May)
![/sdlx/170512-Ragnhild-May.jpg](/sdlx/170512-Ragnhild-May.jpg)

(Merih Koç)
![/sdxl/igner.jpg](/sdlx/igner.jpg)
Visual artists Inger Scharff and Merih Koç are contributing to the venue with the space-specific piece “Gate”. The duo is concerned with human’s penchant for self-editing and fear of banalities and clichés. However, what seems banal often appears more complex and nuanced when we take a closer look.
The “GATE” consists of two fraternal sculptures that reflect each other. They have been formed so that they fit together. Their shapes depend on each other. They part from each other but they also belong together. Like culture to culture, people to people and artist/performer to audience/observer.
Through attention and honesty in the process the artists wanted to explore how they realized their ideas. The piece has been created with a point of no return attitude that resembles musicians playing a concert. Like musicians and audience always prepare, the artist have prepared in terms of materials,
dimensions, idioms and position in the room. After the preparations the piece was created in one improvisational take. The sculptures’ fragmented idiom is inspired by the structure of classical busts and sporadically applied gold leafs, not to cover but to frame and emphasize the process. Placed on each side of the stage, they are creating an illusion of a gate to the experience (the picture above shows the models).

Andreas Schulenburg
![/sdlx/andtres.jpg](/sdlx/andtres.jpg)
Andreas Schulenburg (1975) was born in Germany and was later educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Schulenburg works with several different genres and media – amongst other ceramics, drawing, felt and sculpture. Yet, his favoured media remains felt, which is used for both small objects, large sculptures and two dimensional pictures.

Artist Information: Ragnhild May ![/sdlx/170512-Ragnhild-May.jpg](/sdlx/170512-Ragnhild-May.jpg) In her unique approach to instrument building Ragnhild May explore the sound of organ pipes by focusing on individual tubes whose numbers usually give the church organ its strength. By selecting fewer, but putting them in near-constant resonance with the use of electric air pumps and sliding the position of the stop within the tube, Ragnhild May transforms the original premise of the organ by maximizing its potential output and gaining microtonal control over the system. This result in an almost percussive nature of difference tones with microtonal variations or harmonics. As the piece evolves Ragnhild May populates the concert room with pulses and renders a unique combination of sound waves and reflections for each listener. Apart from performing with sound Ragnhild is also an acclaimed visual artist with a degree from the Royal Academy of Visual Art. Website: [ragnhildmay.com](http://www.ragnhildmay.com/) Anders Lauge Meldgaard ![/sdlx/170512-Rmay.jpg](/sdlx/170512-Rmay.jpg) Anders Lauge Meldgaard is a prolific composer and musician in the Danish avant-garde scene.
