In March 2014, guitarist Kim Myhr released the critically acclaimed solo record «All Your Limbs Singing» (SOFA); an orchestral exploration of the 12-string guitar sounding like something in between American folk strumming and 60s avant-garde soundmass orchestral music. He just released a new album called «Bloom», where he takes his music in a new and more electronic direction. In recent years, Kim Myhr has been one of the leading voices on the experimental scene in Norway as both a composer and a guitarist. Myhr writes for chamber ensembles, electroacoustic settings and various theatrical projects. Last year he released «In The End His Voice Will Be The Sound Of Paper» – a collaborative album released together with Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Jenny Hval, which was described by the Quietus as «an arresting piece of work», and by Slug Magazine as «a grotesquely beautiful paradox of sound, pleasing to the last». Myhr is a member of MURAL (Ingar Zach, Jim Denley) and Circadia (David Stackenäs, Joe Williamson, Tony Buck), and has done collaborations with Sidsel Endresen, Quatuour Bozzini, Sebastian Roux and Lasse Marhaug to mention just a few. He is co-running the experimental label SOFA.
Album reviews:
BLOOM (2016) “a trance state between the acoustic and the electronic, where an alchemical late-hours lyricism is born.” MOJO Four star review
All your limbs singing (2014) “One of Myhr’s finest attributes is his courage to let the music unfold with guileless simplicity, so we focus tightly on the sound. Elsewhere he brings his devilish command of the guitar to bear.” Sydney Morning Herald John Shand
All your limbs singing (2014) “A delirious love letter to the 12-string acoustic guitar” WIRE Magazine Clive Bell

バンドとして、Walk With The Penguinや、miimo、plot.

Julie Rousse
![/sdlx/170621-JulieRousse.jpg](/sdlx/170621-JulieRousse.jpg)

Born in Japan in 1967. He studied minimal art / music / film extensively under Kuniharu Akiyama, Yoshiaki Touno, Sakumi Hagiwara, Kishio Suga at Tama art university in Tokyo. He has been introduced in David Toop’s book "Haunted Weather" and the compilation album "Japanese Avant Garde" (Sub Rosa, 2002). In the 90s, he was involved in international cooperation work in Asia, Africa and Mexico. Through this experience, he had opportunities to listen to rare ethnic musics and learned a lot. He was especially inspired by music, ceremony and culture based on Pan-East Asian sun worship basis, then he had come out with collage painting and field recording works "Hypernatural series" featuring Asian gong (the symbol of light and the sun in Asian culture). He also became interested in live music and started to perform improvised music with Steelpan (steel drum). In 2004, Machida founded AMORFON, a music label and platform for contemporary art events. He has released his solo albums, unique work from Eastern European artists, and "Kindermusik: Improvised Music by Babies." Machida also writes for magazines, has lectures and some unique workshops for children. [Yoshio Machida official](http://yoshiomachida.com) Cal Lyall ![/sdlx/161104-cal2.jpg](/sdlx/161104-cal2.jpg) Involved in the arts scene in Japan for over fifteen years, Cal Lyall has organized large-scale performances involving both Japanese and overseas artists, while also remaining a key member of a number of musical groups which have toured both locally and internationally. His musical activities are documented on over 30 albums he has both produced (including three full-length compilations released on medama records in Japan) and contributed to as a writer or musician. As a curator, he established the monthly Test Tone concert series in 2005 at Tokyo’s SuperDeluxe. Featuring over a thousand distinct artists over its 9 year run, it reached its 100th installment in 2014. With an active performance schedule in Japan and past tours through Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, China, Korea, Australia and the US, he also heads up the Subvalent record label and oversees the Tokyo Hub of Jolt Sonic Arts (Australia). [Cal Lyall official](http://www.subvalent.com/cal-lyall/) Julie Rousse ![/sdlx/170621-JulieRousse.jpg](/sdlx/170621-JulieRousse.jpg) The arresting work of Julie Rousse strikes a skillful balance between the organic and the abstract. Her compositions are at once dense and starkly conceived, yet still evoke a dreamy boundlessness. As a performer, Julie uses an improvisational approach, manipulating field recordings in real time to capture spontaneity of form, while retaining the color and sound of her collected source material. She has been performed worldwide in a range of solo and collaborative settings, and her work has seen a number of releases. Most recently, she was featured on a compilation released from Sub-Rosa in 2010. [Julie Rousse official](http://julie.la.rousse.free.fr)
